Mountain Flower Goat Dairy is a Boulder-based non-profit cooperative that links small goat dairies in Colorado’s front range, enabling them to share processing and distribution costs. The coop is supported by raw milk shares, education programs, summer camps, cheese making workshops and agritourism.
We bring people to goats and goats to people while providing ethically produced goat dairy, meat products and soaps.
We are currently milking seven goats who produce 50 gallons of milk per week, with over 100 families in the herd share. But we are operating at capacity—beyond capacity. Product is oversold, and the demand for kefir, cheese and more milk is significant. People want to buy their product from a farm they can visit and trust.
This is where we will begin in 2016:
• 5 initial co-op family farms
• 20 graze-able acres
• 75 milking goats
• Milking 250 days per year
• 19,000 gallons of milk per year
• $375,000 gross profits on milk
The producer and landowner members of our pasture-based dairy goat farms are united in their desire to produce high quality dairy goat products while stewarding the health of the environment, the animals and the community. This collaboration establishes a model of a commercial goat dairy that also serves as a catalyst for fostering the growth of the goat industry in Colorado.
Our shared vision is for an environmentally sustainable and economically vibrant goat dairy industry that will help conserve and protect the region’s working landscapes, as well as foster jobs and agricultural economic development and opportunities throughout Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region.
Your contribution to the Beetcoin campaign will be used to finance a mobile trailer and milker, which is critical to determining the feasibility of the new goat dairy cooperative.
